John Townsel was born on May 20, 1952 to the late Ruth Mae and late George Townsel in in Meridian, MS. John accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Cleveland, MS. John loved the outdoors. All his jobs consisted of him being outdoors. John was known for doing construction and farm work. His hobbies included fishing and cooking. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ruby Jones and Margerita Mae; brother, Elijah Townsel; niece, Essie Townsel and nephew, Oscar Jones, III. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, wife, Betty Whitley; a stepson, William Whitley; sister, Essie Jones of West Helena, AR; a brother-in-law, William Jones of Lexa, AR. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and friends.
