Joe Larry Oates, Sr. 76 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Home Going Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton burial will follow in the Sandhill Cemetery, McKoy Street in Clinton.

Bobby leaves to cherish his memories, wife: Essie Oates; 8 children: Joe L. Oates Jr. (Sandra) of NY, Loyda Duckett (Cookie) Donald of CA, Antoine Oates (Corriene) of MI, Abdul Oates (Kimberly) of MI, Antonio Middlebrook of MI, Medina Oates, J.C. Oates of GA. Keirdre Blackmon (John) of NC, Noel (Danni) Blackmon of NC; brothers: Henry T. Oates (Doreen) of Fayetteville, Jimmy Oates (Virginia) of Dudley, Bennie Oates of GA, Elder Ronnie Oates (Tiffany) of Sanford; sisters, Alice Oates Ancheampong (Michael) of NY, Bernice Blue (Anchorage), Geraldine Howard, Peggy Coleman (Felton), Angeline Williams all of NY, Rosa Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY, Gennie Owens and Eva Bell of Clinton.

Also left to cherish the life of Bobby is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, loved ones, more than 40 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one godson, Laron Joseph Crumpler, who he loved like his own son.

Walk thru will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Hope Valley Hawkins from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm with family present from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
