Jean Devone Monk 80, of 105 Royal Lane, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
Home Going Service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328. Burial will follow at Springvale Cemetery (Clinton Cemetery) on West Elizabeth Street.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel and other times at 88 Holiday Lane in Newton Grove, NC.
Jean was born on August 29th, 1944 to the late Jerry and Lillie Mae Devone. Although she did not have any children of her own, Jean played a huge role in the upbringing and caring for her siblings, nieces and nephews.
Jean came up on a very large family farm in Sampson County, which she continued to make her home into her adult life. She was married to the late Oices D. Monk.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents: Jerry & Lillie Mae Devone; her brothers: James, Edward, Kenneth, Ray, William, George and Wade; and her sisters: Thelma, Elma, Diane and Jane.
Jean leaves to cherish her memories, one sister: Betty Ingram of Clinton, NC; brothers: Jerry Devone Jr. (Maime) of Maryland, Bobby of Dunn, NC, John of Clinton, NC, Jimmy (Toni) of Benson, NC, Freddie of Smithfield, NC and Jackie (Shirley) of Newton Grove, NC; along with a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
