Hope Valley Funeral Service & Cremation 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton, N.C. 28328 Office (910) 592-0061 Fax (910)592-0062 Clinton James Lee Hamilton died Sunday, April 26, in his home. He was born to William Earlie and Frances Johnson Hamilton on April 20th, 1939 in Decatur, Mississippi. The family moved to North Carolina in 1941 and to Clinton in 1950. James graduated from Clinton High School in 1957 and joined the Navy soon after. He studied at East Carolina and other fine schools on his return. He retired from construction a dozen years ago and spent a lot of his time writing. He often worked and wrote under the name of Felix. He was a fine writer and poet. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Robert DeVane and is survived by three daughters; Heather Hamilton, Clarity Dickinson, and Presley Sundberg (Brian): Two grandchildren; Annicka Alexander and Justice Dickinson: his siblings; Eleanor Lamb (Earl), Billie DeVane, Ralph Hamilton, and Johnny Hamilton (Margaret) plus lots of nephews and nieces, one being Gayle Lamb who spent many hours face-timing about footprints made whilst living. Don't send flowers: plant them or a tree or even a flowering tree. Life is short. Be kind to yourself and everybody else too. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 6:00 PM by the pond in front of 169 Copperhead Lane in Clinton.
