Saturday August 11th, 2012 Clinton, Mrs. Hattie Mae Warren Bennett, 79 of 361 Windsor Rd., Englewood, NJ formerly of Clinton died Friday Aug. 10, 2012 at Sampson Regional Medical Center. Ms. Bennett was born in 1933 in Sampson County to the late Braxton and Fannie Mae Beaman Warren and was widowed of the late James Clifton Bennett Sr. and also preceded in death by a brother James Clifton Bennett Jr. A Home Going Service will be held 2:00pm Thursday August 16th 2012 at the Big Piney Grove Baptist Church 3245 Big Piney Church Road Clinton, by the Rev. Dr. Lester W. Taylor Jr. officiating, Burial will follow in Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.hopevalleyfuneralservice.com On April 16, 1933 God allowed one of his angels "Hattie Mae Warren", to arrive in Snow Hill, North Carolina to the late Braxton Warren and Fannie Beamon. On Friday August 10, 2012 while Hattie Mae was vacationing at the home of her daughter, God, with his perfect peace whispered in her ear that her work here was done and it was time to come home. Hattie Mae Bennett (Warren) peacefully went home to be with Lord. Hattie Mae would be raised by her father and stepmother the late Malissie Warren, she was surrounded by a loving family. Hattie Mae attended school in Sampson County where she would meet the man she would marry, James Clifton Bennett. Of their union, the two were blessed with two children, Hattie Beatrice and James Clifton, Jr. Hattie later moved to Englewood, NJ to be with her biological mother being guided to provide for her children the same nurturing and loving home in which she was raised. During this time Hattie Mae was blessed with a beautiful baby girl she named Patrice Monique. Hattie Mae joined Ebenezer Baptist Church and after some years she became a member of Community Baptist Church of Englewood where she served as an usher, a member of the choir and a Mother of the Sarah M. Clark Mothers Ministry. She loved her church family and nothing brought her greater joy than to attend the spirit filled service preached by her Pastor the Reverend Dr. Lester Taylor, Jr. In her late 50's Hattie Mae decided to continue her education in order to become certified as a child care giver. She was a 23 year employee of the Infant Toddler Daycare until recent retirement. Hattie Mae had a tender heart and the spiritual gift of helps and when friends found themselves in need she would willingly open the doors to her home for as long as they needed. This was done with a non judgmental attitude and never an unkind word spoken. Whatever she had she was so graceful in sharing with others. If you wanted to see a huge smile and gleam of joy one would only need to ask about her grandchildren. She said once to her daughter "Now that I have grandchildren, I like you but I LOVE my grandchildren" Y She always beamed with pride as she shared their successes or showed photos. When she was in their presence you would find her watching them from a distance with a warm smile of pride. She was preceded in death by her son James Clifton Bennett, Jr. her father Braxton Warren, biological mother Fannie Beamon and stepmother Malissie Warren. Those left to cherish her memory are: two daughters Hattie Bennett Roberson, Clinton, NC; Patrice Bennett Hammond, Englewood, NJ with whom she resided; two sisters Jean Fryar Clinton, NC and Annie Faison Turkey, NC; two step-daughters, Dr. Sharon Crenshaw, Raleigh, NC; Leslie Crenshaw, Kershaw, NC; four grandchildren Fredrique Butler (Vertina), Durham, NC; Dr. Allessandra Monique Lowery (Lamont) Greenville, NC; Malcolm Reginald and Breyana Alexis-Kathleen of the home; Step-grand daughter Melody Reid, Charlotte; three great grandsons, Brention Lamont Lowery, II; Gabriel Lowery, Julian Lowery and Step-great grandson Jonah Reid; a caring and devoted niece Loistene Kuye (Jide) Apex, NC and a host of relatives and friends.
