Gwendolyn "Tonya" Huddleston left us on December 13, 2019 in Greenville, NC.

Tonya was born August 26, 1974 in Turkey, NC to the late Joseph and Hattie Atkins of Turkey, NC. Joseph was from Alabama and moved to NC through his travels in the Army. Her mother Hattie was a school dietician in Turkey schools.

Tonya, as her family so affectionally refers to her as, was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church of Turkey and became a member through baptism on 12/5/1987.  She loved fashion, spending time with family, and shopping at Sam's Club. Tonya was proceeded by her husband George Huddleston on December 27, 2017 and older sister Vonnie Atkins on December 12, 2013.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 12:00 pm at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton.

She is survived by her children Rebecca D. A. Atkins of Chapel Hill, NC and Joshua A. Atkins of Warsaw, NC; her uncles Roosevelt Hardison and Leroy Henry of Jacksonville, NC, her 6 siblings Barbara (Allie) Goodman of Turkey, NC., Elaine Smith of Turkey, NC., Eddie (Cathy) Smith of Turkey, NC, Sheila (John) Shipp of Fayetteville, NC, Shaunta Adkins (Turkey), and Necole (Dustin) Foley of Jacksonville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends Cinda Morrisey and Richard Fuller.
