New Bern Gary Wayman Carmichael, 73, died May 5, 2017 at PruittHealth-Neuse nursing home in New Bern, NC. After moving from the Outer Banks of North Carolina Gary had thoroughly enjoyed living in the rural area of Belhaven, NC. In December, 2015 Gary became a resident of Ridgewood Manor nursing home in Washington, NC. After having been born in San Francisco, CA on October 5, 1943 Gary's enjoyable childhood was with his parents (Wayman and Nelle) and his sister (Carol). After 7 years of living in Hawaii they moved to San Diego, CA. Grade school and high school were with his friends in San Diego, CA in the La Jolla school system. Next came Gary's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Colorado. During the Vietnam War, as a Marine, Gary began to develop his spiritual side. After the Marine Corps the focus of his life for over 40 years was as a faithful Jehovah's Witness. Gary volunteered regularly with: preaching; teaching; instructing; local construction; and international construction. Throughout the decades Gary conscientiously shared his love for our Creator, Jehovah, and His Son, Jesus Christ. Gary is survived by his caring wife, Karen, of over 11 years. He is also survived by 3 step-children; Staci Gibson, Will Chandler, and Lauren Tremblay along with 5 step-grandchildren. A public memorial talk will be given at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 20. The location will be the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 25319 US Highway 264, Pantego, NC. Please, join Gary's friends and family to hear the Bible's hope that Gary fully embraced. The Bible's hope for the future is held out to those now living and to those who have passed away in death. Rev 21:3-4
