Frances Willadene Matthews 93, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Whispering Pines Nursing Home.

Frances was born in Sampson County on June 30, 1929 to the late Ozzie Leary Ivey and Baimbrige Autry. Frances enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She loved basketball and was a true fan of  UNC as well as other North Carolina college teams.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Ozzie and Baimbrige Autry; infant sister, Naomi Autry; sister, Doris Gairy; and brother-in-law, Bobby Autry.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Faith Builders Christian Center, 2600 Wade-Stedman Rd, Stedman, NC 28391. Rev. Casey Welker officiating.

The Family will receive visitors prior to the service, 10:00-10:45 am at Faith Builders Christian Center.

Left to cherish the memory of Frances are her children: Regina D. Masouras of Fayetteville, NC, William H. (Diana) Matthews of Kansas, Janet Johnson Matthews of Fayetteville. NC, Vincent A. (Will) Matthews of Georgia, and Donald F. Matthews of Wilson, NC; sister: Iris Autry; brother-in-law: Doyle Gairy; grandchildren: Dean'o, Gino, Amber, Jennifer, Susan, and Dustin; and 5 great-grandchildren.
