Elva Monk Matthis 57 formally of Clinton passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
A home going service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Olivet Institutional Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Bowden officiating, burial will follow in the Keathern Baptist Church Cemetery in Harrells.
She was born September 18, 1956 in Sampson County, the daughter of Dora M. Stacker and John Blue. She married Ronnie Autry in 1974 and to this union was blessed with three children.
In 2006 she married Charles Matthis and they settled in Greensboro, NC.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She worked numerous years at Carolina Commons Rehabilitation Center as a cook.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Lorenzo Autry (Simone) of Durham, Phillip Autry of Fayetteville, and Latasha Autry of the home. Her stepchildren Brandon Matthis of Dunn and Christopher Matthis of Las Vegas, NV. Her Mother Dora M. Stacker (James), sisters Patsy Coxum , Gail Blue, and Patricia Blue (deceased), brothers Martin, Otis, Robert all of Newton Grove. Two grandchildren Qwaliff K. White and Alayna M. Autry.
A public visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 from 1-6 with family present from 5-6 pm at Hope Valley Funeral Service & Cremation at 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton, NC 28328.
