Obituary

Donald Junior Ammons, 71 of 351 Tram Road, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at home on June 13, 2026. Born on July 2, 1954, in Sampson County, North Carolina, Donald lived a life defined by love, music, and devotion to family.

He was born to the late Junie Purvis and Laura Jane Bryant Ammons. Donald was also preceded in death by his brothers, Purvis O'Neil Ammons and Terry Martin, whose memories he held close throughout his life.

Mr. Donald wishes were to be Cremated and stay home with the love of his life Agnes Elaine Ammons. No service at this time.

Donald’s passions were many, but above all, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He adored his horses, a testament to his love for nature and the outdoors. He took pride in mowing his grass, tending to his home, and spending precious moments with his family’s grandbabies, whose laughter and smiles brought him immense happiness. Yet, the heart of Donald’s spirit was expressed through his music. With a guitar in hand and his voice set to song, he sang his favorite melodies to his loving wife, Agnes Elaine, lighting up her world with every note and smile shared between them.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Agnes Elaine Ammons of Clinton; his children, Paula Sue Champion of Clinton, Anthony Dayton Bell of Clinton, Wendy Cheryl Phillips (Fonzie) of Clinton, Lodie Ray Ammons (Kaye) of Clinton, and Donald Junior Ammons II (Brandy) of Clayton. He is also survived by his sister, Yulanda Smith of Stedman, and his brother, Anthony Lane Ammons of Whiteville.

Donald was a proud grandfather to Derek Jacobs (Noemi), Tyler Carter (Kaitlyn), Chase Jacobs (Jennyfer), Megan Morrison (DaCorris), Hannah Jacobs, Peyton Phillips, Rylee Ammons, Caleb Ammons, Jordan Phillips, and Chloe and Chase Johnson.

He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Ashton Carter, Ava Grace Carter, Connor Jacobs, Nova Jacobs, Landon Jacobs, Vanessa Carter, and Denver Morrison, all of whom brought great joy to his life.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in the many memories they shared and the legacy of love he leaves behind.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
