Retired Army Staff Sargent, Clarence Rudolph Cain, Sr., 77, died peacefully at Cape Fear Valley Hospital, Fayetteville, NC on March 20, 2020.
Clarence was born on April 16, 1942, to Booker T. Cain and Nellie Alberta Argent-Cain in Fayetteville, NC. In 1962, he joined the armed forces. During his military service, he was deployed to Vietnam several times. He was discharged with full honors in 1983. During his military career, he received numerous honors: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Four Overseas Service Bars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Master Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, Good Conduct Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon and the M-16 Expert Qualification Badge. He was a brave and loyal soldier. Clarence married his sweetheart, Elma Ruth Parker, in September of 1966.
Graveside Service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday March 28, 2020 at Roseboro-Snowhill Cemetery by the Rev Dr. Sherwin Callwood, Officiating
Clarence is survived by his wife, Elma Ruth, son, Clarence R. Cain, Jr., 3 daughters, Jamezetta (Jacob) Bellinger of Estill, SC, Valerie (Eddie) Williams of Roseboro, NC and Latreesha (Kevin) Register of Raleigh, NC. Grandchildren: Tanesha Bellinger, Michael Bellinger, Jasmine Upshaw, Jacob Bellinger, II, Aisha Bellinger-Walter, Nicholas Butler, Nicole Butler, step-grandfather to Jashaun Register and Aaliyah Register. He was a great-grandfather to Ashley Bellinger, Ashton Bellinger, Jordan Bellinger, Elisha Keith Walter, Nevaeh Butler, and future granddaughter Nova Blue Butler. Brother in Laws: Charles Parker, W.C (Mary) Parker, George (Liz) Parker. Sisters in Laws: Rosa Parker, and Shelda Parker. He also had a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Clarence is preceded in death by his son Kenny Rue McCorkle, his parents Booker T & Nellie Cain. Siblings; Emerson Cain, Booker T Cain, Jr., Annie Ruth Cain, Myrtle Elizabeth Carver, Doris Carver Chambers, Ernest Carver, Inez Carver Jones, Dorthory L Carver -Smith.
