Charlie Jr. Murphy 71, Of Leland NC, was born April 29th, 1952 to the late John Henry Murphy and Mae Haley Murphy.
Charlie 'Swing' departed this earthy life into eternal rest on April 19th, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Charlie received his education from the Sampson County School District, class of 1970. Charlie joined Mt Zion AME Zion Church at an early age, Charlie raised Tokesia Watson as a child of his own.
Homegoing Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church, 11015 Taylors Bridge Hwy, Magnolia, NC 28453 with Rev. Jimmy Melvin Officiating. Burial will follow in Merritt Cemetery.
Charlie was a dedicated employee of GE-Wilmington manufacturer for over 40 Plus years where he retired. Where his hard work and commitment left an indelible mark on his colleagues and company.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with family present 6:00-7:00 pm, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.
Beyond his professional achievements, Charlie's true legacy lies in his generous spirit and compassionate heart. He found joy in supporting charitable organizations like the Salvation Army and Goodwill, embodying the values of kindness and empathy.
Charlie cherished his family dearly, finding strength and happiness in their love and companionship. His church family was also a source of immense joy and fulfillment, where he found solace and community.
Above all, Charlie's unwavering faith in God guided his every action and decision. His life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and service.
Charlie Jr. Murphy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Proceeded in Death by His Parents: John Henry Murphy & Mae Haley Murphy; Sister: Emily Mae Murphy Dowe; Brothers: Rudolph Murphy & John Westley Murphy; Niece: Darlene Dowe; and Nephew: Johnnie Ray Merritt.
