Roseboro

Carl Thomas "Tom" Matthis 68, of 2775 Old Mintz Hwy., passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at UNC REX Hospital.

Born on April 2, 1954 to Bryant and Frances Matthis, Tom was the baby of seven children. He was the owner of Tom's Wood Works. Tom was a member of the Moose Lodge and loved to dance.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Allison Matthis; brothers Stevie Matthis and Kirk Matthis; and Sister Manie Brown.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  1:00 p.m. Monday October 10th 2022 at Mintz Baptist Church on Old Mintz Highway Roseboro. Burial follow in the Church Cemetery.

VISITATION: Family will receive friends  Sunday October the 9th 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service 1246 Hobbton Highway Clinton North Carolina and other times at the home 2775  Old Mintz Roseboro North Carolina.

Tom is survived by his wife  of 18 years Brenda Lynn Barts Matthis; his boys Colton Bryant and Kaidan Bryant of Roseboro; daughters Jennifer Sutton of Warsaw and Veronica Darden of Faison; son Chris Spell of Clinton; sisters Kay Hobbs of Clinton, Betty Beasley of Clinton, and Hazel Catlett of Vancouver, Washington; eight grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tom's caregivers Aaron Barts, Jennifer Peterson, Ashley Tew, and Jessica Bryant.
