On Saturday, July 8, 2023, at The Magnolia Nursing Facility in Clinton, our beloved, Barry Lee Sutton 73, quietly and peacefully answered the call to go home.

Barry was affectionately known as "Bud Lee". He was born May 20, 1950, in Sampson County to the late Johnie Peterson Jr. and the late Isolene Sutton Pope. He was raised in the Bearskin community and attended the Clinton City School district. He graduated from Clinton High School. At a young age Barry joined Bearskin Church.

Barry met the love of his life, Lora Jean Sutton, and they were married on April 7, 1969. He went into the military for a while during this time. To their union, four sons were born, Christopher, Darrell, Anthony, and Colby Sutton.

Funeral Service will take place at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Bearskin Missionary Baptist Church, 4721 Bearskin Rd, Clinton, NC 28328. Burial will follow in the Bearskin Missionary Baptist Cemetery.

A Walk Through will be held 2:00-5:00 pm, on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, located at 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents and two of his sons, James Darrell Sutton and Christopher Lee Sutton.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife Lora Sutton (Salemburg, NC); sons, Anthony Sutton (Raleigh, NC) and Colby Sutton (Salemburg, NC); daughter Wanda Henry (Clinton, NC); 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves siblings that reside in Brooklyn and other parts of New York, along with many cousins and friends.
