Obituary

Clinton

Mr. Arthur Lee Underwood Sr., son of the late Vennie and Earl Underwood, was born in Clinton, North Carolina, on February 23, 1939. On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, God saw that his body was getting tired, so he stretched out his arms and whispered "come to me, my good and faithful servant".

Arthur attended Sampson Training School in Clinton, North Carolina. He was married to Mattie B. Underwood and from that union, five children were born. He was preceded in death by brothers Frank, James, Earl, Charles, Thomas, Clarence, and Ricky Underwood and his life long friend Haywood Whitted.

Arthur joined Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 10 and remained a faithful member until his passing. He was passionate about singing in the choir and videoing the pastors anniversaries. He managed Clinton Small Engine Shop for many years until its closing. He later became employed with Clean-Rite Services Inc. until retiring, still returning at times to help out when needed. Arthur was a hard and dependable worker and loved what he did. He was a great father and friend to many. His passions were working on cars, lawn mowers, and going fishing. He was a dedicated son to his mother, even after her passing, continuing to make sure her grave always had flowers and consistently burning lights.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Lisbon Street Baptist Church, 401 Lisbon Street, Clinton, NC 28328. Pastor Tony Whitted, Eulogist. Burial to follow in Sandhill Cemetery, 3 Sampson Street, Clinton, NC 28328.
