Pauline Smith 85 passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at The Magnolia in Clinton.
Home Going Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton with Ronnie Lowe officiating, burial will be held in the Sandhill Cemetery, Clinton.
Pauline E. Smith was born on May 7, 1933 to Mr. Howard and Mrs. Ethel Smith in Turkey, North Carolina.
Pauline attended and graduated from Douglass High School in Warsaw, NC. She also attended Fayetteville State University and received a B.S. in Teaching. Pauline continued her education at New York University and obtained a M.A. in Sociology. Pauline began her working career at the New York Institute for the Blind.
She later changed her career and applied for a position with the New York City Department of Social Service. She worked as a Case Worker and Child Welfare Agent. Pauline progressed in her career and became a Supervisor. She faithfully worked for the Department of Social Service for thirty-three (33) years. During her final years with the agency she worked passionately with the elderly in the division of Aging.
Pauline leaves to mourn to cherish:One brother Ellie W. Smith (Jerlene) of Brooklyn, NY; One sister Ethel Mae Smith of Warsaw, NC; One sister-in-law Mozelle Smith of Philadelphia, PA; two brothers-in-law David Bryant of Goldsboro, NC and Samuel Williamson of Pesacola, FL. She also leaves to mourn to cherish her loving memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service & Cremation, 1246 Hobbton Hwy.
