Loving husband, father, brother and Daddy’O to his grandchildren has turned in the score card for his final round. He had a birdie on all 84 holes, his most perfect score! You will find Maurice at God’s 19th hole, drinking a pepsi, discussing the upcoming round at his new home. One of his favorite childhood accomplishments was receiving an award form Piney Grove church for bringing the most friends to church. His faith in God remained true in his life. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, fishing, old westerns and life savers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Roseboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Bobby Herring officiating, burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg with military honors.
Maurice was born November 10, 1933 in Sampson county. Son of the late AW Royal and Oleta P. Royal He was a veteran in the United States Army and met his bride Joan while stationed in New York. He later became a barber for the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, Myrtle Beach, SC. In 1970 Salemburg became their home. He is survived by wife Joan V. Royal of the home, 3 daughters Gail Royal Ferris (Shawn) of Wilmington, NC Joni Royal Haas (Chuck) of Wilksboro, Marci Royal Huggins (Jeff) of Roseboro and son Gary Maurice Royal (Monica) of Salemburg. Brother Tom Royal (Pat) of Southern Pines. Sister n law Lou Alice Royal of Clinton. Grandchildren Erin Ferris, Kenny Ferris, Anna Kate Ferris, Marissa Ferris, Andrew Huggins, Cole Haas, Rhys Royal, Kelsey Royal and Ally Grace Royal Great Granddaughter Keely Royal. Neices and Nephews from Illinios, New York, DC, Virginia and Florida. He was preceded in death to brothers Harold Royal (Yvette)and Leon Royal. Grandson Zachary Ian Royal
