Natalie Joann Melvin was born on July 24, 1934 to the late Sampson Armstrong Sr. and Lillie Parker Arnstrong. On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, Natalie heard her name and she answered the call at Southwood Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, NC.
Natalie attended school in Brooklyn, NY where she graduated from Girls High School. She worked as a social worker with the Department of Social Services of New York City, Brooklyn NY where she remained until her retirement, still holding onto her love of writing.
Natalie joined church at an early age where she made this her pride and jy. I don’t care how the conversation started she never ended without bragging about how good God is. Natalie believed in prayer and it was nothing to wake up hearing her walking through the house praying. She had a real love for God and didn’t end a conversation without telling you about the goodness of Him.
Natalie was married to the late Coley “Pops” Melvin. In addition to her parents Natalie was also preceded in death by a brother, Sampson Armstrong, Sr., two sisters: Evangelist Emm Melvin & Lois Hicks.
Home Going services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service, with Elder Coley Melvin officiating, burial will follow in the Roseboro-Snowhill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton. from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm with family present from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Natalie leaves to cherish her memories: Sons: Alfonso Melvin, Elder Coley Melvin and wife Wanda of Fayetteville, NC and Jerome Melvin and wife Delphine of Rose Hill, NC Daughter: Deloris Pope of Clinton, NC,11 Grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren 1 great-great grandchild a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
