Elwood Owens 53 formerly of Clinton passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Home Going service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 1:00 pm at
Andrews Chapel Baptist Church with Elder Gerald Underwood officiating, burial will be held privately. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at
Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service & Cremation, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. from
1:00 pm - 5:00 pm with family present from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

Mr. Elwood Owens, son of the late Minnie Pearl and Charles Eason was born in Sampson County, North Carolina on January, 21, 1964. He departed this life on Monday, July 3, 2017. He was preceded in death by his sister Elsie King
"Lil Daddy", as he was affectionately known attended Clinton City Schools and later attended Roseboro Salemburg. He was a people's person with a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He was a strategic thinker, who was a father figure to many and others often giving encouraging words to others or lending a helping hand. Elwood was a hard worker who prided himself in his fashion.

He was employed at Cape Fear Formal Wear where the owner Jeff Hovis and other staff became part of his family. He was working through the Links program with the youth.
Those left to cherish his memories include sisters Lou Pearl Oates, Judy (Oliver), Wanda Evans, Rosetta Owens, Donna McCalop, and Marilyn Moore. Brothers Henry Thomas Owens and James Miller Owens. Special niece and great nieces Kawanda and girls. Special nephew Taj "Bay Bay" Barksdale, special aunt Phobe. Special friend Jeff Hovis and Co-workers.
